CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AS A STRATEGY
We take our responsibility as corporate citizens seriously. Our commitment to best practices is shared with our partners and evident in the communities where we work.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AS A STRATEGY
As a corporate entity, we are aware of our social and environmental impact. One element of our corporate strategy is to maximize value by operating with the highest standards of integrity in our business dealings, activities and corporate governance.
We set uncompromising standards for ourselves in labor practices, occupational health, safety, environmental protection and the use of sustainable natural resources. We encourage Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in the entire spectrum of our business. We also ensure our partner growers follow our example.
MAKING MARKETS WORK FOR THE ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED (MMW4ED)
The core element of our social responsibility strategy is to Make Markets Work for the Economically Disadvantaged (MMW4ED) through our business operations and principles.
EXTEND SHELF LIFE AND REDUCE FOOD WASTE
Fresh fruits and vegetables start to deteriorate as soon as they are harvested. They lose weight, texture, nutritional value and appeal. By offering partner farmers modular solar-powered facilities for the storage of perishable goods, with a flexible pay-as-you-store subscription model, we help the farmers to reduce the impact of post-harvest losses in fruits and vegetables by over 60% by extending the freshness of their produce from an average of 2 days to an average of 20 days.
INCREASE LOCAL FARMER INCOME
Farmers are able to increase their annual income by over 35% due to reduction of wastage’s as we provide storage facilities and warehouses for their products. In addition, we also provide limited guarantee for the purchase of their produce that meets the pre-agreed quality requirements, at pre-agreed standard prices.
EMPOWER WOMEN
Our goal is to continue to ensure a minimum of 40% participation by women in the business of our partner producers.
FARMER TRAINING AND SUPPORT
We provide support to our partner farmers through the provision of farm inputs sich as high-yield seedlings, agricultural extension and training services. We also support our partner farmers and producers to be able to get funding support from corporate organisations, financial and development agencies.
SUSTAINABILITY
Due to the rising global population, the need to maintain the environment becomes increasingly important. We work with our partners to develop and implement responsible and sustainable agriculture practices.
In our daily activities we make it a priority to focus on saving energy, recycling, reducing paper usage, reusing resources, and reviewing transportation efficiency.
We regularly review our sustainability practices and incorporate best practices into all of our facilities, worldwide. Sustainability is more than an aspiration. It’s a business practice that enhances our ability to meet global demand and ensures opportunities for future generations
